One Rouge, One Move: Strengthening Partnerships for Lasting Change

The One Rouge call on February 28, 2025, focused on strengthening partnerships for generational change, bringing together community leaders, educators, and advocates to discuss collaboration, workforce development, and youth engagement. Speakers shared insights on sustaining long-term partnerships, highlighting the importance of time investment, relationship-building, and collective action beyond funding. From urban forestry initiatives to career training programs at BRCC, the conversation emphasized tangible ways to uplift communities through education, advocacy, and hands-on support.

Key discussions included youth leadership in policy-making, with the Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LIAC) encouraging high school students to get involved in shaping legislation, and workforce training opportunities, such as Exxon’s free 1-year technical program and BRCC’s no-cost CDL certification. The call also featured funding opportunities, including a $10,000 community health grant, and upcoming events like the Environmental Summit on April 19 and 225 Fest at BRCC on March 2. These discussions reinforced the power of partnerships in addressing systemic issues and creating long-term community impact.

With a strong focus on mobilization and resource-sharing, attendees were encouraged to continue networking, support youth leadership, and take action within their own spheres. Whether through workforce development, legislative advocacy, or environmental sustainability, the message was clear: collaboration is key to lasting change. The call ended with a challenge to stay engaged, attend upcoming events, and invite others to join the movement—because One Rouge, One Move means real progress happens when the community moves together.

You never know what connections and impact lie in those simple conversations—that’s the true power of communication.
